The Microbiology Laboratory has been actively involved in biotransformation, in vitro antimicrobial testing and the in vivo efficacy studies of the actives and the final formulations used in the cosmetics.

Cosmetics are used almost universally on a regular basis. The safety aspect of cosmetics has been the subject investigation for a long time. The presence of microorganisms in cosmetic preparations and deterioration of active ingredients poses a health hazard to consumers. Hence it is of importance to have a requirement of microbial limit for cosmetic products and testing to be done using standard methods.
