The Chairman of Kelkar Education Trust Shri Govind D Kelkar alias Bahusaheb Kelkar left for the heavenly abode on Tuesday, 02nd Mar 2010. He was 78.

After Graduation, he joined the family business right at the initial stages of setting up of S H Kelkar & Co’s factory at Mulund in 1952. As the managing Director of Kelkar Group of Companies, he has been instrumental in developing the group companies as leader in the field of manufacturing Perfumery Materials in India. Under his leadership, S H Kelkar & Co Pvt Ltd was bestowed with the renowned Sir, P C Ray Award for development of Indigenous Technology.

His Expertise in the area of Perfumery and Essential Oils, Aromatic and Medicinal Plants was recognized by United Nations Industrial Development Organization . He was the only Indian to be elected as Honorary Member of French Society of Perfumers.

He was instrumental in developing quality educational institute. He has been the driving force behind the development of Kelkar Education Trust’s V G Vaze College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mulund.

Kelkar Education Trust’s Scientific Research Center has made path breaking work in the field of Plant Biotechnology. The Center has pioneered ‘Patchouli Revolution’ in the country for his contribution in Patchouli Revolution in the Country, Shri Bhausaheb was awarded Life ‘Time Achievements Award’

Under the able leadershipof Shri Bahusabheb Kelkar, the college developed as a quality academic institution. The institution has made several firsts in the field of education. The college has been accredited at Top Five Star Grade by NAAC. The College received the prestigious ‘Centre for Potential Excellence Award’ by UGC. Vaze College has also received the first ‘Best College Award’ by the University of Mumbai.

The Management and Staff of V G Vaze College condole the death of Shri Bhausaheb Kelkar and pray the almighty that may his soul rest in peace.
